The status of Alfred Wainwright is essentially derived from his guides to walks in the Lake District, despite the fact that he wrote a lot related to walks in other parts of the country. His Pictorial Guides to walks over the Lakeland mountains have been highly popular for fifty years. Within recent years updated versions have been published to allow for alterations in the detail of the landscape. These 2nd editions, and also many other Wainwright books are listed on this website.
